Occupational Therapy for Children and Young People
Supporting children, young people and their families to achieve their goals, advocate for themselves and reach their potential
Children and young people’s key occupations are to increasingly develop skills to look after themselves, to play and to learn. Occupational therapy can support children who have difficulties in these areas due to a disability, injury, developmental delay, or diverse learning style or need. OTs take a play-based approach to supporting children to be able to play, learn and look after themselves. OTs can also address social and environmental factors influencing the child’s experiences at home, school or in the community.
At Believe and Become we are passionate about working from strengths-based, neurodiversity affirming, and trauma-informed approaches. We help children and their families understand their rights to access supports and reasonable accommodations in education, community activities and later employment. We build their capacity to be able to understand their strengths and support needs and advocate for themselves.
