Occupational Therapy for Children and Young People

Supporting children, young people and their families to achieve their goals and reach their potential

Children and young people’s key occupations are to increasingly develop skills to look after themselves, to play and to learn. Occupational therapy can support children who have difficulties in these areas due to a disability, injury, developmental delay, or diverse learning style or need. OTs take a play-based approach to supporting children to be able to play, learn and look after themselves. OTs can also address social and environmental factors influencing the child’s experiences at home, school or in the community. At Believe and Become we are passionate about working from strengths-based, neurodiversity affirming, and trauma-informed approaches.

Occupational therapy can help children and young people with:

  • Self-care skills like bathing, dressing, toileting, eating and sleeping
